SNOHOMISH COUNTY, Wash. — The body of a 24 year-old Snohomish man was recovered from Mount Pilchuck Wednesday by search and rescue teams.
It is believed the man fell about 400 feet from an area near the lookout tower at the mountain's summit.
Other people in the area reported that the man had hiked up to the summit Tuesday and left the group he was hiking with. They lost contact with him just before dark.
Wednesday morning, a call came in to 911 by someone who had been up at the summit who saw a man below the north side of the lookout, but said that it was too dangerous to hike down and check his condition.
The rescue team arrived in the Snohomish County Sheriff’s Office helicopter, SnoHAWK10, just before 10 a.m. and verified that the man was dead.
They transported him to the search and rescue facility at Taylor's Landing about 11 a.m., where the Snohomish County Medical Examiner took custody of the body.
