EVERETT, Wash. — A man broke into his neighbor’s house, stole several pieces of musical equipment and stuffed the items into a vent, according to the Everett Police Department.
The man broke into a house across the street from his home.
KIRO 7 Eyewitness News reporter Lee Stoll spoke with the victim, Stephen Ronning, and he showed the guitars and amplifier that were taken from his home last week.
“This is what they found first. Then they found these two in a wall, these were in a wall,” Ronning said. “The Everett police did a great job digging into a wall. I can’t believe that. I give them all the credit.”
Ronning’s family was on vacation and came back to find a broken bedroom window at his home.
Police said a witness came forward and told officers a neighbor, 22-year-old Robert Brittin, bragged about stuffing guitars into a vent.
In all, officers found three guitars and an amplifier, police said.
Ronning told KIRO 7 that one more guitar is still missing and it was a Christmas present for his 13-year-old son.
Ronning has checked pawnshops and Craigslist to find his other guitar, but nothing has come up.
On Thursday, Brittin faced a judge and several charges of theft. He was released without bail.
