Whole foods holding national hiring event Thursday

SEATTLE — Whole Foods plans on hiring thousands of people this week.

The grocer, recently acquired by Amazon, will host a “National Hiring Day” at all store locations across the country on Thursday.

Whole Foods wants to hire 6,000 new employees.

The company will offer part- and full-time opportunities for seasonal and permanent positions. It’s looking to hire cashiers, culinary experts and prepared foods specialists.

Job seekers can visit any Whole Foods on Thursday for an interview with the potential to be hired on the spot. Candidates can apply online here https://joinwfm.com or in person at store locations.

Marisa Martinez interviewed at the Bellevue Whole Foods on Thursday.

“I have a little tiny part-time job at a restaurant,” Martinez said.  “But if I work here I’ll try to cope everything with two jobs.”

She’s hoping for a job stocking and organizing food items.  She says benefits like the 20 percent in-store discount are a big draw.

“They have really good perks and benefits,” She said. “They have dental and health insurance and you get discounts on food.  I can’t eat makeup if I have a discount. But I can eat food here if I have a discount.”

Whole Foods offers benefits for both part- and full-time workers.
