LYNDEN, Wash. — Officers with U.S. Customs and Border Protection detained a Ferndale man who had a warrant out for his arrest at the Lynden Port of Entry in Sumas, Washington on Sunday.
While the man was attempting to enter at the Lynden Port of Entry, officials said his name revealed he was the subject of a National Crime Information Center warrant out of Skagit County.
Officials said the 55-year-old man was wanted for second-degree rape, indecent liberties and two counts of assault in the fourth degree. The man's named was not released.
The man was transported from the border to the Whatcom County Jail pending extradition.
“Our officers’ vigilance ensures we apprehend felons and wanted individuals encountered at the border,” said Port Director Phillip Stanford.
“The work we do is vital to protecting our communities, especially the vulnerable members within them.”
