BOTHELL, Wash. — After one Bothell police officer was killed and another was hurt in a shootout with a suspect Monday night, KIRO 7 is monitoring reaction from Washington State and around the country.

Police departments as far away as North Carolina have been weighing in on Twitter.
The Seattle office of the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives offered its condolences and said it will be helping police with the investigation.
Gov. Jay Inslee released the following statement Tuesday morning:
“Trudi and I join Washingtonians in mourning the loss of one of Bothell’s finest. While more information is still being gathered, it appears that the injuries to a second officer shot last night do not seem to be life-threatening. We are relieved to know a suspect has been apprehended and we will continue to follow this situation. I send the deepest condolences to the family and friends of this public servant who was killed while serving the community.”
