MAPLE VALLEY, Wash. — Tiffany Smiley kicked off what she’s calling her ‘New Mom in Town 2.0′ tour on Tuesday, with plans to drive across Washington state between then and Election Day.
The first event hosted by the Republican candidate for the U.S. Senate took place at a tavern in Maple Valley on Tuesday evening.
“I am ending this campaign the same way I began – by talking directly with the voters of Washington,” said Smiley. “I look forward to this last opportunity to meet with voters and see the many friends I have made across the state.”
Republican Senator Joni Ernst from Iowa was also on hand to meet with Smiley’s supporters.
Smiley is trailing in the polls, but is making the race for the Senate competitive as Democrat Patty Murray campaigns for a sixth term.
With ballots already arriving at voters’ homes, both candidates now need to get their supporters to vote and turn them in.
Murray has also been out talking with voters and getting support from some big names, including Senator Elizabeth Warren, who was in Seattle stumping for Murray last week.
She is also expected to get a boost from Vice President Kamala Harris’ visit to Seattle on Tuesday and Wednesday.
