Threats cause closure of Enumclaw High School Monday

ENUMCLAW, Wash. — Threats of a shooting and bombing caused the closure of Enumclaw High School on Monday.

The claims that violence would happen at the school Monday were were posted on Instagram, according to the school district.

District officials said they consulted with Enumclaw police and decided to close the school out of an abundance of caution.

All other schools in the district will be open as usual.

Officials said those who do not feel comfortable attending class at other schools in the district Monday should have a parent or guardian contact the school to excuse the absence.

A Facebook post from the Enumclaw School District said all threats are taken seriously and anyone responsible for threats will be prosecuted to the fullest extent.

Anyone with information about the threat is asked to come forward. Names will be kept confidential.

Families will be updated as more information is available.

Police will be closely monitoring the building.
