Thousands of gaming fanatics are descending on Seattle’s Westlake Park this Labor Day weekend for PAX West, one of the biggest gaming expos in North America.
And for the first time in three years, the event is back in full force to pre-pandemic exuberance and sheer excitement.
“It’s somewhere where you’re not at work, you’re not at your 9-to-5, you’re out here, you’re playing, doing the stuff you love since you were a kid,” said one of the event’s attendees.
Plenty of grown-ups are “geeking out” about their love of games this weekend.
“This has always been a passion of mine and these games are made by my people, and I love seeing them get the recognition they deserve,” said Jessilyn Shaefer, who donned a costume for the event in the name of creativity.
She worked out of an ice cream truck at Westlake Park that’s based on the storyline from one of the newest games out there.
“Fran’s frogurt shop gets hit by a giant laser beam and that starts an all-out war on Promethia,” Shaefer said.
PAX West runs until Monday, bringing with it the quirkiness of people’s gaming passion.
