SEATTLE — Wade LeBlanc pitched 7 and 2/3 shutout innings, Nelson Cruz drove in the only run of the game, and Edwin Diaz recorded his league-leading 27th save in the Mariners 1-0 win over the Boston Red Sox at Safeco Field on Saturday.

The win pushed the Mariners record to 46-25, marking the first time the franchise has been 21 games above .500 since the end of the 2003 season.

The 2003 Mariners finished the season 24 games above .500 with a 93-69 record good for second in the AL West behind the Oakland Athletics. They did not make the playoffs.

Baseball fans in the Pacific Northwest are falling more in love with the 2018 Mariners by the day and are hoping that this is the year the franchise ends it's 17-year playoff drought.
