Suspicious vehicle call leads to fraud investigation, discovery of drugs in Shelton

SHELTON, Wash. — Shelton police seized narcotics and arrested three people after officers were called for a report of someone with a weapon Thursday night.

On Thursday at about 7:30 p.m., Shelton police were called to Turner Avenue near the 15th Street intersection for a report of a suspicious vehicle with someone inside who looked like he had some type of weapon.

When officers arrived and tried to speak with the occupants of the car, a man ran away and began emptying items from his pockets as he fled, police said.

The suspect was quickly taken into custody and two other people in the car were detained for possession of what appeared to be narcotics on the front seat of the car, according to investigators.

Officers secured the car until they were granted a search warrant.  Their initial search yielded 174 grams of methamphetamine, 8 grams of heroin and a variety of pills, according to officers.

Investigators said the man that ran from the car told officers he fled because of he had outstanding warrants through the Department of Corrections.

Police said he was found to have numerous stolen items, including ID and credit cards. He was later booked into the Nisqually Jail for his outstanding warrants.

One of the other suspects also had outstanding warrants through the Mason County Superior Court.

A third occupant of the car was booked for investigation of narcotics violations and possession of burglary tools.

Police are continuing to investigate identity theft violations and possible fraud.
