Suspected drunk-driver hits building, patrol car in Shelton

SHELTON, Wash. — A suspected drunk driver hit a building and a patrol car in downtown Shelton, police announced Monday.

In a news release, police said an officer tried to stop a suspected drunk driver on West Cota Street around 11 p.m. Sunday.

The driver then fled at a high-rate of speed, police said.

“In less than 30-seconds, the vehicle went off the roadway and drove into a building on the southeast corner of S. 2nd Street and W. Cota Street. The building was un-occupied at the time of the collision,” a spokesperson for the Shelton Police Department wrote in a news release.

Police said that, after hitting the building, the suspect reversed the vehicle and struck the patrol car, which was not damaged

The officer at the scene then placed the driver under arrest.

Police identified the driver as 23-year-old Teresa Ramirez Pablo, of Shelton.

Pablo was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence and the Washington State Patrol is now investigating.

Officials said the building sustained structural damage and will be inspected by the city.

"We are very fortunate that no one was hurt or killed during this incident," said Captain Fiola, of the Police Department
