SEATTLE — The Seattle Thunderbirds released a statement Thursday noting that two players have been released from the roster after a report of inappropriate racial comments and actions towards a third player in the team locker room.
After an investigation and interviews with the team and staff, the two unidentified players were removed from the roster immediately.
The statement notes the Thunderbirds and WHL have a zero-tolerance policy for racism and all other forms of abuse and they will use this incident to emphasize that this type of behavior will not be tolerated.
Every year, the WHL teaches an extensive Players First program to ensure players and staff know how to prevent hazing, abuse, harassment and bullying.
The Seattle Thunderbirds added they have no further comments on this incident.
