Seattle Parks, YMCA holding summer job fairs

SEATTLE — If you like kids and need a job, or are a young person who’s in need of work, two organizations are hiring for dozens of positions that serve young people in the Seattle area.

Seattle Parks and Recreation and YMCA of Greater Seattle have more than 100 jobs to fill that involve critical programs such as running summer camps and staffing pools, beaches and wading pools.

“These positions are great for entry-level young adults and anyone looking to get into education, social services, or emergency responder fields, all while caring for kids and families in their communities,” a joint news release said.

The organizations will be holding joint hiring fairs where interested candidates can learn more about available positions, ask questions and apply immediately.

“Spend your summer helping kids learn to swim, supporting families with outdoor learning, and more, while you build your leadership, help community and have your best summer ever,” said Sara Biancofiori, who oversees aquatics at YMCA.

SPR and YMCA both have permanent, temporary, seasonal, full-time, and part-time openings, including jobs for people as young as 16.

The dates and locations for the job fairs are:

Wednesday, June 1 from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Meredith Matthews YMCA, 1700 23rd, Seattle, WA.

Thursday, June 2 from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Magnuson Park, Building 406, 6344 NE 74th, Seattle, WA.

Saturday, June 4 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at West Seattle YMCA, 3622 SW Snoqualmie St., Seattle, WA.

Saturday, June 4 from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. at Rainier Beach Community Center, 8825 Rainier Ave. S, Seattle, WA.

“Many critical programs — including lifeguarded beaches, summer camps, and childcare — that provide young people with safe summer experiences will not be possible if we cannot fill positions,” the news release said.
