SEATTLE — The City of Seattle booked an entire downtown hotel for first responders.
The Executive Hotel Pacific on Fourth and Spring is booked for three months to serve as a site where first responders can isolate and quarantine.
It also could house other essential city employees who've been exposed to coronavirus but can't isolate or quarantine at home.
The city will spend close to $3 million to rent the hotel, which has 155 rooms.
Visit Seattle said 25 of 70 hotels in Downtown Seattle have temporarily closed and hotel revenues have dropped by as much as 93-percent from this time last year.
As of Tuesday, six rooms at the hotel were being used by first responders, but clearly that number could grow. The Executive Hotel corporation out of Vancouver said it is providing staff with safety equipment.
Six Seattle police and 10 Seattle fire personnel have tested positive for the virus.
The Silver Cloud Hotel in SoDo is hosting the US Army, which is setting up a field hospital at the CenturyLink Field Event Center.
