Protecting yourself from wildfire smoke

SEATTLE — Several wildfires are burning across the Pacific Northwest, and the University of Washington has some tips to deal with the smoke.

Things to look for when smoke is in the air include burning or itchy eyes, sore throat, headache and nausea.

Steps to take before the day gets smoky include having a place to get safe air quickly, preparing your home and speaking with your doctor if you’re experiencing any health effects.
