1 shot, killed at homeless encampment in Renton, police say

RENTON, Wash. — Renton police are investigating after a man was killed Sunday in a reported shooting at a homeless encampment.

Officers responded about 12:25 p.m. to the 13200 block of 89th Avenue South and started CPR on a 27-year-old man who police said had been in a fight. The man died at the scene.

Investigators said the shooting happened on a large remote property located west of Southwest Second Street and Hardie Avenue Southwest.

Police are looking for the shooter and asking for the public’s help in identifying anyone who was seen leaving the area of the encampment around the time of the shooting.
