DES MOINES, Wash. — Des Moines police have arrested a suspected Craigslist scammer after he crashed the car he was trying to sell overnight.
Police said the suspect put up ads for a Toyota for sale on Craigslist and another site on Wednesday, but it was actually his mother’s car that he was using to scam buyers.
After buyers gave him money, the man would flee in the car.
When the scam was reported to police, officers set up a meeting with him and met him in Des Moines at about midnight Wednesday.
Police then surrounded the man in the vehicle, but he jumped the curb and drove away.
Des Moines police started a pursuit as the man drove north on Des Moines Memorial Drive, where he eventually sideswiped a car at South 190th Street in SeaTac. The damage to his vehicle caused it to be disabled.
The man was then arrested.
No one was hurt.
