FEDERAL WAY, Wash. — Police are investigating a shooting that left a 9-year-old girl injured Wednesday night in Federal Way.
Officers responded to a report of an accidental shooting at an apartment complex at 35700 16th Avenue South after 9 p.m.
When officers arrived, they found a 9-year-old girl with an apparent gunshot wound to her abdomen.
Officers provided aid until medics arrived.
She was taken to Harborview Medical Center and is in critical condition.
Police said family members reported the shooting as accidental.
The investigation to what led up to the shooting remains ongoing.
