‘He was a protector:’ Search on for suspect who shot and killed father in Puyallup

PUYALLUP, Wash. — A 37-year-old man died Sunday morning after he was found with multiple gunshot wounds, the Pierce County Sheriff’s Office (PCSO) said.

Deputies responded at around 4:19 a.m. and found the man near Canyon Road East and 122nd Street East.

Crews tried to treat him, but he was pronounced dead at the scene, according to PCSO.

The victim’s family told KIRO 7 that the “world lost an amazing father, who didn’t deserve this.”

“This was a working man who worked hard. And who was a single father who was trying to do the best for his kids,” his mother, Kyro Grooms, said. “He was the protector of all of my children. To all of my daughters. And now, they no longer have their protector.”
