A passenger who was waiting to board his Seattle-bound flight at Denver International Airport says he was bitten by a dog on Friday afternoon.
The Alaska Airlines Flight 657 passenger told KIRO 7 he asked a couple with a small dog if he could pet it. They told him he could.
According to the passenger, the couple told him to pet the dog "underneath." As he went in to pet the dog, it had bit him on the hand.
When the passenger got on the plane, he asked a flight attendant for a Band-Aid for his bleeding hand.
The dog was not identified as a service animal. Alaska Airlines officials said the owners did not want to put their dog in a carrier.
As the plane was getting ready to taxi, the couple and their dog was taken off the flight and re-accommodated on another airline.
The flight continued and was delayed landing into Seattle.
Alaska Airlines released this statement to KIRO 7:
Earlier this afternoon, a dog nipped a passenger in the boarding area for Alaska Flight 657 from Denver to Seattle. The dog should have been in its kennel but was not. The incident did not happen onboard the aircraft.
The passenger who was nipped did not request or receive medical treatment, and continued their flight.
The owner of the dog did not want to kennel their pet for the flight and was re-accommodated on another airline.
