OAK HARBOR, Wash. — Officers with the Oak Harbor Police Department are asking for the public’s help in tracking down a bank robbery suspect.
Police said a detective was working in the area of Southwest Barrington and Southwest Barlow Streets around 8:35 a.m. Tuesday when he heard screaming.
The detective discovered the screaming was coming from a plaza near the Washington Federal bank located at 1241 SW Barlow Street.
"As the detective approached the bank he witnessed a black younger male (early 20s), dressed in black clothing run from the direction of the bank toward the back of Donut Master," police wrote in a news release.
Police said the detective immediately called to report seeing the man running from him and said the man was dropping money.

While waiting for other officers to respond, police said they received official reports that an armed robbery had occurred at the bank.
Police said the suspect was between 5 feet, 2 inches and 5 feet, 8 inches tall with a slender to medium build.
According to police, the suspect, wearing a dark-colored mask and holding a semi-automatic weapon, approached a bank employee outside the bank before the bank opened.
“The suspect ordered the employee back into the bank and demanded money. The suspect fled the scene with an undisclosed amount of money, which is when the detective saw him,” police said.
Officers spent hours searching for the man but were unable to locate him.
