Nursing assistant accused of sexual assault has license suspended

State health officials announced Wednesday that they have suspended the license of a King County certified nursing assistant who is accused sexual assault at a North Seattle assisted living health care facility.

Last month,  Nshimiyiana O. Hamzat was charged in King County Superior Court with first-degree rape, second-degree rape and indecent liberties.

In charging documents, prosecutors said Hamzat repeatedly raped a disabled victim while he cared for her at the facility.

Hamzat cannot practice as a nursing assistant in Washington until the charges are resolved. He has 20 days to respond to the charges and to request a hearing.

Hamzat is still currently booked in the King County Jail.
