Mount Rainier National Park announced Tuesday that it is launching a program that will allow park visitors to purchase electronic entrance passes before visiting. Visitors will still have to print and bring the pass with them to be scanned before entering because cell service is limited or nonexistent in the park.
“We are pleased to offer this convenient new service for park visitors,” said Tracy Swartout, acting superintendent of Mount Rainier National Park. “This exciting technology will allow people to save some time at the entrance station by purchasing a pass in advance.”
Mount Rainier passes, including the weeklong or annual pass, will be available for purchase through YourPassNow, the website that allows an alternative to the traditional in-person purchase method. This program was developed in cooperation with the National Park Service and aims to provide a new level of access to America’s public lands.
