More ‘Zoo Doo’ sales planned at Woodland Park Zoo in April

SEATTLE — The Woodland Park Zoo has announced plans to host additional sales where gardeners can purchase some of its coveted compost, known as Zoo Doo, this spring.

Limited supplies of the zoo’s Zoo Doo and Worm Doo are available year-round at its ZooStores in one-pint containers, but the compost is only available in bulk quantities on select dates.

“Zoo Doo is a great way to garden clean and healthy for the benefit of pollinators and other local wildlife and is a sustainable green choice,” said the zoo in a news release. “The compost is so extraordinary that the zoo’s horticulture experts also use it throughout the zoo in its award-winning animal habitats and other landscaped areas.”

The compost is made of animal feces from the zoo’s non-primate herbivores, including tapirs, pudus, mountain goats, rhinos, hippos, giraffes, and zebras.

It will be available for pickup at the zoo on April 8 - 9 and April 29 - 30 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Visit www.zoo.org/zoodoo or call 206-625-POOP (7667) to book a pickup, pay with a credit card and receive instructions for pickup.

Additional details on sales in May, June, and July will be announced by the zoo at a later date.
