Missing hiker found dead down cliff

KING COUNTY, Wash. — A 46-year-old missing hiker was found dead at the bottom of a cliff about 11 a.m. Wednesday on Snow Lake Trail, the King County Sheriff’s Office said.

Officials said a report was taken by the Renton Police Department Tuesday about a man who had not been seen or heard from since the Fourth of July. According to police, it wasn't normal behavior for the man.

King County Search and Rescue began searching for the man Tuesday but suspended the search late into the evening for safety reasons, officials said. His car was found at the trail head.

The search resumed at about 7 a.m. Wednesday and crews found the victim’s body at the bottom of a 300-foot cliff, officials said.

Officials said the man likely slipped and fell to his death.

The victim’s name and cause of death will be released by the King County Medical Examiner’s Office.
