PIERCE COUNTY, Wash. — Pierce County deputies say a 24-year-old man drowned in Lake Tapps Saturday afternoon.
Deputies received a call at 3:47 p.m. from a caller who said his son went underwater and he had not seen him.
When rescuers arrived at the scene, they found the man, pulled him out of the water and began lifesaving measures.
The man was taken to the hospital but did not survive, officials said.
Crews with East Pierce Fire said the man was swimming in the north end of the lake and went under. He was reportedly submerged for 25 minutes.
Deputies are asking everyone to remember that our lakes and rivers are still very cold.
