KING COUNTY, Wash. — A man who turned himself in to police on Tuesday in connection with the fatal shooting of an 8-year-old girl in Federal Way is being charged with first-degree manslaughter, according to court documents.
Police say Andre Jimerson is suspected of being inside the apartment where the shooting happened and firing a shot that hit Royal’lee Wallace.
After the shooting, police arrested the little girl’s father, Cherith Wallace, and while he was in custody, Royal’lee Wallace died.
Later, detectives released Cherith Wallace from jail after discovering additional information about who was in the apartment when the shooting occurred.
Investigators said Jimerson turned himself into Kent police on Tuesday.
He is also being charged with unlawful possession of a gun.
Jimerson remains in the King County Jail and his next court appearance is scheduled for May 27 at the Maleng Regional Justice Center in Kent, where he is expected to enter a plea.
