REDMOND, Wash. — A Redmond man was charged last week in King County Superior Court with second-degree assault.
In charging documents, prosecutors said Yan Feng, 23, hit a fellow DigiPen Institute of Technology student with a baseball bat. The assault is alleged to have happened Feb. 10.

DigiPen Institute of Technology is a private, for-profit university located in Redmond with around 1,100 students. The University offers degree programs in computer science, video game development, and animation, among others.
In a probable cause document, police said Feng admitted to throwing the bat at a group of students who he said were laughing at him. Feng said he had been bullied at school “for some time,” according to police.
When a professor entered the classroom, police said he saw a student bleeding and Feng standing nearby with the bat still in his hand.

Police said Feng gave the bat to the professor and was escorted to the lobby. Feng was then transferred to the King County Jail, where he remains in lieu of $70,000 bail.
In their bail request, prosecutors noted Feng’s lack of any criminal history but said he is “likely to commit a violent offense.”
Feng’s arraignment, where he will enter a plea, is expected later this month.
