LYNNWOOD, Wash. — A 21-year-old Lynnwood child care worker was arrested for alleged child rape and molestation, the Snohomish County Sheriff’s Office announced.

The sheriff’s office said the man was hired in 2019 by a family on an online babysitting service to provide care a few days a week for their children. The man worked for the family for about four months in 2019 and again in the summer of 2021, officials said.

Over this period, the victim’s sibling saw inappropriate interactions between the man and the 7-year-old victim, detectives said. The child then reported it to a parent.

Detectives said the incident was first reported to Child Protective Services on Jan. 21, 2022, who then referred the case to law enforcement.

While investigating, detectives learned the suspect was currently working at a Lynnwood daycare center. His employment was terminated due to the active criminal investigation.

Detectives developed probable cause to arrest the 21-year-old man for first-degree child rape and first-degree child molestation.

The man was arrested Thursday at his Lynnwood home without incident. He is currently booked into the Snohomish County Jail.

Officials are still investigating.
