KIRKLAND, Wash. — The Kirkland Police Department is investigating a recent robbery on Rose Hill.
Police said officers responded to reports of gunshots in the parking lot of the Rose Hill Safeway on Feb. 18 around 8 p.m.
The Rose Hill Safeway is located in the 12500 block of NE 85th Street.
According to police, an initial investigation revealed a man in his 20s was robbed and assaulted by two other males with whom he had been scheduled to meet in the parking lot.
“The victim reported that upon meeting the suspects, they stole his money and his cellphone. During the incident, the victim fired several rounds from a .45 caliber handgun striking the suspect’s vehicle,” Kirkland Police said in a news release.
Police said the two suspects fled the scene in a dark-colored sedan and the robbery victim sustained serious injuries to his face and head in the attack.
The victim was taken to an area hospital with non-life-threatening injuries and the firearm used by the victim was recovered at the scene, police said.
The Kirkland Police Department said it is investigating what led up to the incident and working to identify the outstanding suspects.
