After 50 years, the Kent Meridian Pool has closed its doors for good.
Tuesday was the last day for swimmers.
According to the Kent Reporter, city officials said in 2017 that the Kent Meridian Pool would close once a new YMCA was built.
Kent’s first YMCA is scheduled to open in September in the East Hill neighborhood.
The city of Kent and the Kent School District took over the pool from King County in 2003.
The school district plans to demolish the building to make room for more classrooms.
