KIRKLAND, Wash. — A swimming beach in Kirkland has been shut down due to contaminated waters.
Signs have been posted at at Juanita Beach Park saying the beach is closed.
The closure comes after city officials found unsafe levels of bacteria in the water during their latest testings earlier this week.
Water samples taken on Monday show fecal coliform bacteria in that part of Lake Washington that exceeds safety standards.
Swimmers or animals who come in contact with it could get sick.
The beach is expected to be closed for at least a week.
