Game Preview: Seahawks look to improve to 3-0 for first time since 2013 with win over Cowboys

SEATTLE — Fresh off a dramatic goal-line stand to seal a win over the New England Patriots last week, the Seattle Seahawks have turned their attention to their next opponent: the Dallas Cowboys.

Russell Wilson completed 21 of 28 passes for five touchdowns to five different players in last week’s win. His lone interception came on a ball that bounced off the hands of veteran tight end Greg Olsen.

Wilson has put up dominant performances throughout his NFL career, but what fans have seen in back-to-back weeks is truly special.

Through the first two games, Wilson has completed 52 of 63 passes (82.5%) for 610 yards with nine touchdowns to only one interception. He has also added 68 yards rushing on eight carries. His 140.0 quarterback rating is the best in the NFL.

After the win, Pete Carroll confirmed what fans have seen, saying, “This is the best we’ve seen Russell.”

While Wilson has been phenomenal, the Seahawks have also relied on new safety Jamal Adams, veteran middle linebacker Bobby Wagner and others on their way to a 2-0 start.

Sunday’s game against the Cowboys will be another challenge as Dallas brings one of the best offenses in the NFL to town. Led by quarterback Dak Prescott and running back Ezekiel Elliot, the Cowboys will be looking for their second win in as many weeks after their shocking come-from-behind win over the Atlanta Falcons.

Dallas comes to CenturyLink Field with the second-ranked offense in the NFL averaging 475 yards per game. Making things even more difficult for the Seahawks defense on Sunday, is the loss of Bruce Irvin and Marquise Blair who both will miss the remainder of the season with knee injuries.

First-round pick Jordan Brooks and second year pro Ugo Amadi will be forced to step up in their absence.

The Cowboys and Seahawks have faced off a number of times with Wilson and Prescott at the helm. Their most recent matchup was in the 2018-2019 playoffs when the Cowboys won 24-22 in Dallas. The Cowboys lead the all-time series 10-8.

Sunday’s game kicks off at 1:25 p.m.
