Fossil fuel protest blocked Second Avenue in downtown Seattle on Wednesday

SEATTLE — Protesters blocked Second Avenue in downtown Seattle on Wednesday morning.

Seattle police said all southbound lanes of traffic were blocked on Second Avenue and Union Street, in front of Chase Bank in the Russell Investment Building.

According to the group 350 Seattle: Climate Justice, around 130 people are protesting the bank’s investment in fossil fuels. The group said they are bringing banners, teepees and tripods to block the street.

The street reopened around 12:45 p.m.
