SEATTLE — After heavy rain fell across western Washington Thursday and rain continues Friday, some rivers and creeks have spilled over their banks as snow continues to melt.
Some areas of the South Sound received as much as 5 inches of rain on Thursday.

Flood warnings are in effect for major flooding Friday on the Chehalis, Skookumchuck and Newaukum rivers, and moderate flooding on the Issaquah Creek and Skokomish River.
Minor to moderate flooding is expected on the Deschutes, Pilchuck, Satsop, South Prairie Creek and Stillaguamish rivers. While the flooding from some rivers may be considered minor, in some cases the flooding is still significant, but not widespread.
The National Weather Service also issued a flood watch for most of western Washington until Saturday afternoon.
Another half-inch to two inches of rain will fall through Friday in the lowlands, presenting more problems with urban and river flooding, before tapering off in the afternoon.
Waters will recede this weekend, when it will be mainly dry with only the chance for a few showers on Saturday morning.

The rain and snowmelt have also caused mudslides and road closures.
Both directions of I-5 are closed in Lewis County between Grand Mound and U.S. 12 south of Chehalis due to flooding.
Parts of the Pioneer Highway in Stanwood were closed Thursday by flooding and landslide conditions. The closure will last through the Friday morning commute hours, according to police.
Mudslides in Grays Harbor County closed part of State Route 108 twice on Thursday.
In Lynnwood Thursday night, 44th Avenue West was closed from the 21000 block to 204th Street Southwest due to flooding.
Part of Front Street is closed in downtown Issaquah after water from the Issaquah Creek spilled over its banks.
All lanes of Maple Valley Highway were closed at the Riviera Apartments in the 2200 block after dirt, mud, and trees blocked the westbound lanes.
