SEATTLE — On April 9, while officers sat in their police car investigating a shoplifting incident in the University District, two people fleeing from a fight in their car accelerated towards and rammed into the parked police car, police say.
The officers exited their badly damaged car and gave commands to the suspects, but they took off speeding northbound on University Way.
After broadcasting the vehicle’s description, license plate and a description of the female driver, multiple officers responded to the scene.
The suspects made their way to a construction zone where a retired police officer attempted to stop the vehicle but had to dive out of the way to avoid being run over.

Officers eventually located the suspects on Roosevelt Way and booked them into custody.
While investigating the scene, officers determined the passenger of the car had a no-contact order against the female driver.
The female driver was eventually booked for multiple counts of vehicular assault, with requests of additional charges of DUI and hit and run.
The male passenger, who was the driver during the original disturbance, was also determined to be intoxicated.
Both officers were uninjured in the incident.
