‘Upset’ girlfriend believed to be suspect in Bonney Lake arson

Firefighters responded to a mobile home in Bonney Lake Friday morning, which authorities believe was set by the girlfriend of a man who was staying there.

At about 7 a.m., crews responded to the fire in the 22400 block of 127th St East in the Prairie Ridge neighborhood of Bonney Lake. When firefighters arrived they found a fully-involved mobile home fire that had spread to four vehicles and a camper.

There was also an explosion that firefighters believe may have been a propane tank.

According to the Pierce County Sheriff’s Department, the owners of the home had hired a man to fix a vehicle and let him stay there for a few days. The mechanic’s girlfriend then came to the home Friday morning “because she was upset about the boyfriend staying at the house.”

Deputies believe the girlfriend set the fire and then ran away. She has been identified by authorities, who are looking for her now.
