SNOQUALMIE, Wash. — Fire crews were out on a horse trail near Snoqualmie Ridge for over two hours on Monday as they worked to rescue a fallen horse.
Stewie the horse was crossing a stream with his rider Monday morning when he fell through a wooden bridge in the Braeburn neighborhood of Snoqualmie Ridge.
With the assistance of several equine veterinarians, the Snoqualmie Fire Department and Eastside Fire & Rescue responded to the bridge located in the Braeburn neighborhood of Snoqualmie Ridge.
The Snoqualmie Police Department and the Washington State Animal Response Team also responded to the scene to assist with the rescue.
After firefighters cut through part of the bridge, giving the horse enough room to continue all the way through, rescuers worked together to pull Stewie out from under the bridge and move him to a flat area.
SPD, who were overseeing the rescue operation, called a large tow truck to the scene which they planned to use to hoist Stewie up and above an overpass, just above the bridge.
But thankfully Stewie was able to get up all by himself, after he was given a bit of time to rest.
Responders then helped him up the trail and loaded him into a trailer before he was transported to a veterinary hospital for treatment.
His rider was uninjured in the fall.
