FEDERAL WAY, Wash. — Thanks to neighbors, some residents at a Federal Way apartment complex are fortunate to have escaped a fire Sunday.
The fire was reported about noon at the Fox Run Apartments on South 348th Street near First Avenue.
Flames stretched from the ground floor of an apartment building to the roof.
One of the people who escaped was a pregnant woman who got out thanks to a neighbor who she said came by yelling to get out.
KIRO 7 spoke to the woman, and she told us she was in a deep sleep and had no idea what was happening until the neighbor showed up at her door.
“Looked outside and my porch and the whole entire porch was up in flames. And my son, who just ran outside and told me to go outside, so yeah, this man saved my life. If he wouldn’t have have knocked on our door, we’d have no idea,” Jessica Smith said.
The Red Cross tweeted that it was called in to help four adults and a dog who have been displaced by the fire.
Fire investigators are trying to determine the cause of the fire.
