SALEM, Ore. — Pacific Northwest In-N-Out fans could almost taste the burgers and fries when reports surfaced this past weekend that the restaurant chain was looking into a possible Salem location.

Turns out, a sign on the side of a Salem building announcing a location coming in June 2018 was a hoax.

In a statement to KOIN 6 News, Vice President of Operations Denny Warnick said:

"We do not have any immediate plans to open a restaurant in the Salem area. Our real estate team is always evaluating new sites for future growth. While we have looked at some further opportunities in Oregon, we are still in the very, very early stages of that process. Although we know that the Salem area is a great community and we would love the opportunity to open a restaurant there one day, it would be extremely premature to speculate when or even if we will open a restaurant there."

The two northernmost In-N-Out locations are in Grants Pass, Oregon, (about 200 miles south of Salem) and Medford, Oregon, (about 230 miles south of Salem).

In-N-Out burger was founded in Baldwin Park, California, in 1948. The company is currently headquartered in Irvine, California, and has locations in Arizona, Nevada, Utah, Texas and Oregon.
