Driver crashes into Lake Washington near Mount Baker neighborhood, leaving car upside down

Seattle police are investigating after a driver crashed into Lake Washington and then ran away on Friday night, leaving the car upside down in the water.

According to the Seattle Police Department, several 911 callers reported seeing a car go into the lake near Lake Washington Boulevard South and South Horton Street just before 7 p.m..

Police and firefighters arrived to find an unoccupied blue Ford Focus upside down along the shore in shallow water.

Witnesses told police that the driver was speeding and lost control of the car. After the crash, they ran away from the scene.

The car was towed away.
