Dramatic video shows police Amber Alert chase

SEATTLE — Seattle police have released the dramatic Amber Alert body camera video as officers chase down a vehicle with a missing child inside.

Inside the silver Mercedes was a 5-year-old boy who had been abducted by his father, the driver.  An adult man was also a passenger, but he apparently had nothing to do with the abduction.

The video shows the Mercedes appearing to pull over, then taking off quickly as an officer approaches the car on foot.

“He took off on us at (a) high rate of speed northbound he's going to be going north on 15th,” an officer transmits on the radio.

The video shows other officers joining the chase, lights and sirens flashing. It also shows others.

Desperate to escape, the father deliberately rams a police car head-on. Airbags erupt in the patrol car, but the officers can be heard saying they are OK, and they resume the chase.

Other units arrive to box the Mercedes in -- but the driver keeps ramming them in a futile effort to get away.

The child is safely retrieved from the car, the police handcuffed his father, later identified as Taraille Chesney

"Needless to say, you are under arrest," an officer tells Chesney.

Chesney responds, “For what, sir?”

“A lot,” says the officer.

Chesney also faces a DUI charge.

No one in the car was seriously hurt.
