Disability rights group sues Washington

A disability rights group is suing Washington, saying the state has no system for ensuring developmentally disabled adults can avoid institutional care in favor of other living arrangements.

Disability Rights Washington said in the federal lawsuit this week at least 91 developmentally disabled adults were being institutionalized against their will or at risk of it because the state could not find them community-based services.

The state rejects such claims.
