LEAVENWORTH, Wash. — Search teams are conducting a major operation Wednesday near Leavenworth in hopes to find the body of a man believed to be murdered in King County.
Tommy Lyu vanished from his Newcastle home last November.
Deputies said his family in China soon became worried about him and reported him missing.
It was also during this time that authorities said a man in China confessed to murdering Lyu and dumping his body in Wenatchee National Forest.
The criminal investigation spanned across the globe.
“The Chinese authorities have been absolutely on the ball. They want to work with us, we want to work with them. Our common goal is to find Tommy and bring justice to his alleged murder,” said Det. Mike Mellis with the King County Sheriff’s Office.
