KING COUNTY, Wash. — BB’s Teriyaki Grill owner Michael Sauvage said a customer’s recent act of kindness has inspired him to donate hundreds of meals to fuel front line health workers who are tirelessly working during the coronavirus pandemic.
“[The customer] came in and asked me if she can buy 100 meals to donate to the UW [Medical] Center emergency department,” said Sauvage, who then made arrangements with local hospitals to do the same. “I realized it was such a nice thing of her.”
Sauvage said he delivered nearly 100 meals on Wednesday alone and has committed to feeding several hundred health workers over the next few weeks; an act of kindness he said also keeps his employees working at a time when sales have plummeted.
“They’re the real heroes in all this,” said Sauvage. “They’re the ones working on the front lines, working longer hours than they ever worked, face-to-face with the virus every day.”
