Colockum Fire burning near Wenatchee forces level 3 evacuations

CHELAN COUNTY, Wash. — Level 3 evacuations are underway in Chelan County due to a fire burning near Wenatchee.

The Colockum Fire is reportedly burning grass, sage and brush, and was estimated to be covering 600 acres sometime around 8 p.m. It started at 2:14 p.m. Friday, officials said.

Local firefighters and State Fire Marshal’s Office crews are on the scene. They’re working to protect nearby homes and structures.

There’s no word on what started the fire.
