VASHON ISLAND, Wash. — Two boats caught fire at a yacht club on Vashon Island early Monday.
It happened at the Quartermaster Yacht Club at 23428 Vashon Highway Southwest.
Firefighters were called out at 4:13 a.m. after several explosions were reported to have erupted on a boat.
That boat caught fire, and then the fire spread to another vessel. Both boats, which were 25 feet long, subsequently sank.
There may be damage to the dock.
There is a fuel sheen in the area. The Coast Guard has made a 500-yard safety zone during the initial cleanup.
The cause of the fire is not yet known.
