BELLINGHAM, Wash. — A suspected bank robber was arrested in Bellingham on Monday, just hours after the robbery.
Around 9:55 a.m. on Feb. 7, Bellingham Police responded to a call of a bank robbery in the 1200 block of North State Street.
Soon after arriving at the scene, detectives identified the suspect as Martin Mora-Lopez, 32, of Bellingham.
Within a few hours, Mora-Lopez was located and arrested without incident.
He was booked into the Whatcom County Jail on a robbery in the second-degree charge.
According to a news from the Bellingham Police Department, Mora-Lopez entered the Key Bank and demanded cash.
An employee handed the cash over, and Mora-Lopez fled on foot.
A K-9 unit could not find Mora-Lopez but did find several items of clothing discarded by him as he fled.
Another officer recognized Mora-Lopez from a trespass call earlier that morning, where Mora-Lopez was wearing the exact clothing during the bank robbery.
