Around the Sound: Snohomish Christmas tree farm doubles as brewery

It’s that time of year again when Christmas farm owners start welcoming hundreds of smiling faces. Everything you love about the holidays from Christmas trees, to food, drinks, activities, and gifts are wrapped up in one at Christmas At The Farm Dairyland!

When you pull into Dairyland, you’re welcomed by Haywire Brewing. It’s a local gem for Snohomish residents, but this time of year draws a lot of new faces to the brewery.

“We definitely see large crowds this time of year. This time of year is especially busy for us because we started our brewery in December so we always have a big party the first weekend of December every year. So what we get to do from a partnership standpoint, we get to talk about the farm to our regular customers and the new ones that come.” said Haywire Brewing co-founder Shannon Butler.

And what’s a Christmas market without some shopping? KIRO 7 stopped by the gift shop featuring unique gifts from 44 local vendors from Bellevue to Marysville.

“It’s kind of like a one-stop shop. We have many families who come back every year and they bring their whole list and fill up a shopping cart basically of items and they get everyone in the family,” said gift shop manager Mara Vollbrecht.

With so much to do on the property, you can’t forget to snag a Christmas tree. Guy Brannon from Westside Natives built his business from humble beginnings. He started out selling trees in gas station parking lots — now he has acres of trees ready for purchase.

“We offer a lot of things you won’t find at other places, we handcraft our own stuff, I offer trees that only I have,” Bannon said. “We specialize in very large trees up to 25 feet. Once you pick your tree, we bring it here to the processing station. We shake it, bail it for you, we’ll put a fresh cut on it for you and it goes to your car, we tie it on your car and you can go about your shopping or back to the brewery.”
