TACOMA, Wash. — A Tacoma man is behind bars at Pierce County Jail for the second time this week.

The Tacoma Police Department says the 34-year-old is allegedly tied to two separate shootings.

The latest incident happened on Thursday at around 9:30 p.m. on North Fife Street, and was initially reported as a disturbance call between a mother and her son.

“We hear the ‘pow, pow, pow, pow,’ and so we knew we weren’t going back outside anymore,” said Val Williams.

As officers were investigating, the officers fired their guns. It is currently unknown why.

No one was hit, but police did arrest a 34-year-old man.

“You got police cars right here, police cars down there blocking the street. Fire truck right here in the middle of the street, and you had the cop cars right there,” said Williams.

Investigators say the 34-year-old was also arrested on Tuesday, because on Monday, a neighbor reported that a bullet went through their wall and hit a cabinet.

Rod Whitcomb says he witnessed the man being detained Tuesday.

“We heard, ‘We know you’re in there, come out,’ so they arrested somebody,” said Whitcomb.

The two officers who fired shots have been placed on administrative leave as this investigation unfolds.
